The Gee-Gees women's hockey team is set to host the Carleton Ravens this Friday night in the Mélisa Kingsley Memorial Game.
A dedicated student and passionate hockey player from Sudbury, Ontario, Mélisa was recruited to the Gee-Gees in 2016. A forward with a scoring touch, great hands, and a strong shot, Mel suited up for the Garnet and Grey in the 2017-2018 season. At that time she was already undergoing treatment for sarcoma. Mélisa passed away at age 20 in October of 2018.
The game will celebrate Mélisa and all of the joy that she brought to the ice and to her friends and family.
Later in the weekend, the Gee-Gees will host the first place Concordia Stingers in a Sunday matinee game. Be sure to arrive at the rink before puck drop, as the team will be honouring their graduating seniors.
