The Gee-Gees only saw the ice once this weekend as they faced off against the Montréal Carabins Sunday afternoon.
Despite being slated for a two-game set, Friday's winter storm impacted travel for the Bishop's Gaiters to Ottawa. As a result, the game at the Minto Sports Complex was postponed to a later date. A rescheduled game will be announced soon.
On Sunday Ottawa travelled to CEPSUM to face the tenth-ranked Montreal Carabins.
Momentum shifted back and forth, where teams left the first period tied 1-1. Although the Carabins opened the scoring, Jade Todd scored a powerplay goal to put the Gee-Gees on the board.
The second period was a similar scene as the Carabins snuck a goal in to take back the lead. However, the Gee-Gees were not far behind as Abygail Moloughney scored to give a quick answer back to the Carabins.
The Carabins edged out the Gee-Gees in the third period, putting up two quick goals.
The Gee-Gees now shift their focus to McGill and the Alerts Cup against Carleton next weekend. Ottawa is at McGill Friday evening before heading to The Arena at TD Place for the Sunday evening game on Jan. 22. Tickets for the Alerts Cup are on sale at Ticketmaster.
Gee-Gees assistant coach Stefanie McKeough was golden Sunday afternoon. McKeough helped Canada capture gold at the Women's U18 World Championship. Now in her second season on the Gee-Gees staff, she previous won silver at the same tournament.
