The nationally second-ranked Gee-Gees women's soccer team exploded offensively for wins over Trent and RMC on the weekend. In all, Ottawa outscored their opponents 15-0 in the two road victories.
Against Trent on Saturday, a Nibo Dlamini goal was the only thing separating the teams in the first half, until an offensive eruption in the second half netted the Gee-Gees eight goals to secure a 9-0 win.
Cassandra Provost scored a hat trick in less than five minutes of game action (50', 53', 55'), while Jenna Matsukubo scored a brace (60', 84'). Provost added a fourth, while Sabrina Mangiaracina and Élianne Gervais also got in on the scoring to round out the afternoon.
Gee-Gees keeper Juliann Lacasse was awarded a clean sheet in the effort, however did not face any shots on net.
Against RMC on Sunday, the Ottawa logged another dominant performance, earning a 6-0 win at Navy Bay in Kingston.
Dlamini opened the scoring once again for the Garnet and Grey, scoring her third of the season in the sixth minute. Eva Bouity then broke through to extend the Ottawa lead in the 25th minute.
The second half was fruitful once again for both Provost and the Gee-Gees. The defending National Player of the Year scored twice (71', 90'), while Matsukubo got her third of the weekend in the 78th minute. An RMC own goal in stoppage time rounded out the win for Ottawa.
Up next, the Gee-Gees will return home for Thanksgiving weekend matchups with Carleton on Saturday at Matt Anthony Field, and a rematch with RMC on Sunday. Both matches kickoff at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at teams.geegees.ca/tickets.
