Ahead of the 2022 season, Mazzella was hired as the Gee-Gees women's soccer team's full-time Lead Assistant Coach. Mazzella has worked with the program since 2018 as a part-time assistant coach. In 2018, Mazzella was on the coaching staff for the program’s U SPORTS National Championship win.

In this role, Mazzella oversees fundraising, camps, community outreach, and assists with the recruitment and development of future Gee-Gees.

From 2011 through 2015, Mazzella, a Sudbury, ON native, enjoyed an outstanding playing career with the Carleton Ravens, being named an OUA First Team All-Star three times (2013-15) and Second Team All-Star team once (2012).
