Women's Volleyball (2-0 OUA)
at Waterloo (1-0 OUA) on Saturday, October 27, 5 p.m.
at McMaster (0-1 OUA) on Sunday, October 28, 12 p.m.
The Gee-Gees women's volleyball team is on the road this weekend making stops at the University of Waterloo and McMaster University for their second weekend of regular season action. The team swept both of their matches on the opening weekend of the season and have moved up to sixth in the CIS Top Ten.
Ottawa hosted both of this weekend's opponents in preseason action at Montpetit Hall, although they did not face off against the Warriors. In two tournament matches against McMaster the Gee-Gees performed extremely well to grab two three-set victories. Waterloo finished winless in their four tournament matches, but picked up their first regular season win last week against Guelph. McMaster is still seeking their first regular season win as they sit 0-1 going into the weekend following their loss to York.
The Gee-Gees, traditionally a strong home team, are feeling confident heading out for another road trip. They have spent much of the preseason logging mileage on the road together. "We're getting really good at winning in other team's gyms," noted veteran middle Kathryn Weihrer - the lone fifth year player on this relatively young squad.
Another veteran player is Karina Krueger Schwanke, who is leading the OUA and is second in the CIS in points per game through the first two games of the season thanks to her average of just under five kills per set in combination with her digging and serving skills.
