The Gee-Gees women's volleyball team had a great weekend in Chicoutimi winning the two last games of the semester against the UQAC Inuk.
On Saturday, the Gee-Gees were first on the scoreboard and never gave up their lead winning the first set 25-13. The Gee-Gees set the tone in the second set, taking it 25-17. With a hard-fought, exciting final set on both sides, Ottawa prevailed to take the 3-0 win.
Audrey Odigie led the way with 12 kills followed by Denae Bristow with 7 kills.
The following day, the teams were back in the gym for one last meeting.
The opening set was a little slower for the Gee-Gees, but they pulled out a 25-20 win, the following set was similar, and the Gee-Gees won 25-19.
The third set was a tight one that went the distance. Both teams put up a strong fight and were never more than a few points apart but ultimately the Gee-Gees took it 26-24 to secure another 3-0 victory.
Once again, Odigie led the way for the Gee-Gees with 21 kills, Bristow added 6 and Grace McKale logged 5.
The Gee-Gees finish the opening half of the season with a 4-0 streak, including defeating the #9 Sherbrooke Vert et Or 3-2.
With nine games left on the schedule, the Gee-Gees are back in action on Jan. 9, 2024 when they host the Laval Rouge et Or for a Tuesday afternoon matchup. Tickets are available for purchase https://teams.geegees.ca/tickets.
