The Gee-Gees cross country team will have two representatives at the 2019 U SPORTS National Championships this Saturday in Kingston, Ont. Rebecca Brennan and Nicholas Roberts will compete against the nation's best on the course at Fort Henry, starting at 1 p.m.
The pair will have an opportunity to train on the site on Friday evening, re-familiarizing themselves with the terrain that both ran last season; Kingston is hosting the national championship for the second straight year. It will be Brennan's second career nationals, after finishing 79th overall in 2018. Brennan is a fifth-year Gee-Gee who holds one career OUA medal in track and field with the Gee-Gees 4x800m relay team in 2017.
For Roberts it will be his third nationals; the fourth-year Gee-Gee finished 89th in both of his previous appearances.
Both Gee-Gees are running as individuals at this year's national meet after leading the Garnet and Grey contingent at the RSEQ Championship event on Oct. 26. Brennan crossed the line tenth overall and eighth among U SPORTS reps, with Roberts finishing 14th on the men's side, 11th among university runners.
The women's 8km race starts at 1 p.m. and the men's race starts at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9. The event will be webcast, for a subscription or pay-per-view fee, athttps://usports.live/
