The U SPORTS top-ranked Gee-Gees men's basketball team defeated TMU on Friday and dropped only their second game of the regular season against Toronto in the team's final regular season weekend at Montpetit Hall.
On Friday, Ottawa defeated TMU 69-52, before falling 76-70 to Toronto on Saturday.
Against the Bold, Brock Newton led the way with a monster 26-point performance, finishing 12-18 from the field, including a sequence of three consecutive dunks in the second quarter.
In all, the Gee-Gees capitalized on 17 TMU turnovers, turning them into 14 points, as well as dominated down low for 26 points in the paint.
On Saturday, Ottawa let a large early lead slip away as Toronto rode a 26-point effort from Callum Baker to an upset win over the Gee-Gees. Khalifa Koulamallah led the way with a career-high 22 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Brock Newton added 16 points and five rebounds on the night.
Up next, the Gee-Gees will travel to Kingston and Oshawa for matchups against #3 Queen's (17-3) and #9 Ontario Tech (16-4) on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday's game will tip-off at 8 p.m. and Saturday's at 6 p.m. Both games will be streaming live on OUA.tv.
