The Gee-Gee men's basketball team logged a successful weekend in Toronto, defeating the Varsity Blues 96-77 on Friday afternoon, before logging a statement 86-64 win over #4 TMU on Saturday.
In Friday's matinee matchup with the Blues, Ottawa was led by a 23-point effort from Jacques-Mélaine Guemeta, who shot 9-17 from the field and hit five threes. Guemeta packed his stat sheet with seven rebounds, six steals, and three assists in the win.
In all, the Gee-Gees hit 55.7 percent of their field goals and 43.8 percent of their threes in the dominant win. Key contributors in game were Justin Ndjock-Tadjore (18 pts. / 4 ast. / 4 reb.), Ankit Choudhary (15 pts. / 5 ast. / 2 stl.), Brock Newton (14 pts. / 4 reb. / 4 ast.), and Owen Kenney (10 pts. / 7 reb.).
The following afternoon at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, the Gee-Gee faced off against a familiar rival in the Bold. With TMU ranked fourth in the nation, the tenth-ranked Gee-Gees had a chance to show they are better than their ranking my indicate.
After a back-and-forth first frame, Ottawa built a lead in the second quarter that they carried into a dominant second half. In all, the Gee-Gees outscored the Bold 41-25 in the second half to clinch the win.
All five Gee-Gees starters scored in double figures on the night, Choudhary had 20 points against his former team, while Guemeta also finished with 20 and six rebounds. Dragan Stajic had an outstanding game with 17 points including 15 of which coming on five three-pointers, to go along with seven assists and six rebounds. Ndjock-Tadjore had 13 and nine rebounds, while Newton had 12 and seven rebounds.

The Gee-Gees will face off against the nationally fifth-ranked Carleton Ravens, on Wednesday night at the Ravens' Nest. Carleton, who is sitting at 9-1, are fresh from their first loss of the season at the hands of Lakehead. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be streaming live on OUA.tv
