The Gee-Gees men's golf team captured the OUA team championship on Tuesday night, edging out last year's champions from Western by two strokes. The Gee-Gees had led by a single stroke after the first round.
Holes 10 and 15 were the strong spots for Ottawa as the team earned an eagle and a birdie, respectively, on Day Two. The Mustangs who were chasing the Gee-Gees were unable to go under par on a single hole in the second round. The Garnet and Grey scored three birdies on day one, on holes 6, 10, and 15.
Anthony Brodeur was the team leader, finishing in third overall to pick up an individual bronze medal with his combined score of 10-over.
Nicholas Workun and Michael Reaume posted identical totals of 13-over to tie for eighth, while Jared Coyle and Gabriel Gingras completed the scoring for the Gee-Gees at 16-over, tied for sixteenth overall.
The championship is the seventh in team history and the first since 2009. Ottawa finished in second place in 2017.
