OTTAWA GAME NOTES
- Major stat leaders
- Goals: Mathieu Desgagnés – 13
- Assists: Anthony Poulin – 17
- Points: Mathieu Desgagnés – 21
- Wins: Jean-Philippe Tourigny – 5
- It was a mixed bag of results for the Gee-Gees in their first weekend back from the holiday break. The team beat the Carleton Ravens 5-2 Friday evening before falling 7-3 to the Concordia Stingers Sunday afternoon.
- Mathieu Desgagnés's 13 goals in 18 games are tied for fourth-most in the entire country. The last Gee-Gee with a similar goal scoring prowess was Kevin Domingue, whose 19 goals in 28 games were tied for second-most in U SPORTS in 2017-18.
- Head coach Patrick Grandmaître will be away from the team for the next two weeks, serving as assistant coach of the Canadian men's hockey team at the 2023 FISU World University Games. The gold medal game is slated for Sunday, Jan. 22 in Lake Placid, N.Y., and Canada are traditionally medal threats.
UQTR GAME NOTES
- Major stat leaders
- Goals: Simon Lafrance – 12
- Assists: Justin Bergeron – 17
- Points: Simon Lafrance – 28
- Wins: Alexis Gravel – 11
- The Pats got off to a flying start in 2023, defeating the McGill Redbirds and Concordia Stingers in convincing fashion. They enter Saturday's matchup on a seven-game winning streak.
- Curiously, defenceman Justin Bergeron is leading the team in assists, but has yet to score this season.
- Bergeron's lack of goal scoring won't be changing this weekend, as he'll also be attending the FISU World University Games alongside Grandmaître. Bergeron will be joined by UQTR's leading scorer, Simon Lafrance, and team captain Zachary Lavigne.
Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale at tickets.geegees.ca. The game will be streamed on OUA.tv.
