The Gee-Gees faced some adversity over Remembrance Day weekend.
Beginning with defeat at the hands of the Gaels on Friday evening, the Gee-Gees ended the weekend on a high note, emerging victorious over the Paladins on Saturday afternoon.
Despite in the 2-0 loss, Ottawa head coach, Patrick Grandmaître, praised his squad.
"We are not ashamed of our performance. We were defensively sound, and the game was pretty even," Grandmaître said. "We out chanced them but couldn't finish our opportunities. When two good teams face off, the game can go either way."
Saturday's game saw the team's efforts rewarded, as the Garnet and Grey came out victorious in a 4-2 effort over RMC.
Gee-Gees' goaltender, Zachary Dietz picked up his first win of the season, making 22 saves out of 24 shots.
Ottawa rookie, Luka Verreault, added a goal on the powerplay as well as an assist to further distance himself as the team's leading point and goal scorer. Verreault attributed his individual success to his teammates.
"I play with great players. It's about chemistry, and my stats are proof that it is very much present between me and my linemates."
Mathieu Desgagnés , Peter Stratis, and Tommy Bouchard all contributed a goal and an assist against RMC. Evan Boucher also recorded an assist.
Grandmaître was also satisfied with his team's performance in the home win.
"Our puck possession game looked great, and we were dangerous in the offensive zone. We really didn't change much to our approach. We believe in our abilities and put them on display this afternoon." Grandmaître said.
The Gee-Gees are on the road for a 6 p.m. puck-drop in Toronto to take on the TMU Bold. The Nov. 16 game is the first of a two-game road-swing for the Gee-Gees. They'll take on Nipissing on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
