The Gee-Gees had an interesting slate of games to start the 2025 portion of the season.
On Tuesday, the team was in Kingston to wrap up a game against the RMC Paladins. After ice conditions forced the game to be cut short on Nov. 28, 2024, the teams resumed from the second period with the Gee-Gees leading 1-0.
RMC found a pair of goals in the contest, but Ottawa had control throughout the second period, leading to a 5-2 win. Zach Giroux, Mathieu Desgagnes (x2), Kaden Bryant, and Elliot Dutil were the Gee-Gees' goal scorers.
Two days later, the Gee-Gees were back on home ice to host the Carleton Ravens. This marked the third battle between the crosstown rivals.
The visiting Ravens got on the board in the opening minutes. Giroux responded early in the second period to tie things up. The Gee-Gees took control, and Brendon Clavelle found the net twice to make it 3-1 for Ottawa heading into third period.
Andrew Belchamber found the mesh for Ottawa, but Carleton's Felix Bedard earned a hat trick, scoring his third at 19:13 to send the game into overtime.
After 1:57 of overtime action, the Ravens swarmed the Gee-Gees net, putting the puck in the net and closing out the evening.
The 5-4 loss is Ottawa's third to Carleton this season. The teams will meet one last time in the regular season on Feb. 2 at the Carleton Ice House.
The Gee-Gees are back in action on Jan. 17 and 18 when they host Nipissing and Windsor.
