Bio
At the time of his graduation, Montana was uOttawa's most decorated swimmer in program history. He is tied with Eryn Weldon for most conference medals in a career (20), and was the first Gee-Gee to ever win five or more medals at the national championships. His career total of eight national medals was the most in Gee-Gees history, and he held the most national gold medals of any Gee-Gees swimmer until he was surpassed in 2019-20 by Davide Casarin. Upon graduating, Champagne held team records in five individual events and four relays. In recognition of his indelible impact on the history of the swimming program, Champagne was the innagural winner of the Gee-Gees Career Achievement Award in 2018-19.
