The Gee-Gees women's rugby team earned its closest win of the season, 17-10, over the Carleton Ravens on Friday night, pushing its record to 4-0 this RSEQ season and its historical head-to-head over the Ravens to 7-0. The Ravens fall to 3-2 on the season.
At halftime, the Gee-Gees lead stood at 12-3, and the score would remain there until the final twenty minutes of play. Ottawa stretched the lead to 17-3 before the Ravens made a comeback bid, responding quickly with a try of their own.
Carleton pushed until the final whistle, with three scrums inside the twenty yard line as the time ticked down. The Gee-Gees held fast and defended the lead, eventually forcing a turnover which resulted in the final whistle.
The game-winning try by Ottawa scored with approx. 15 min to play, on a push from a large group of Gee-Gees. Emily Gray carried the ball over the line, and was credited with all three Gee-Gees tries on the night.
