The Gee-Gees earned back-to-back home wins this week, rolling to a 113-0 win over Bishop’s and a 78-5 win against Concordia.
The Gee-Gees women's rugby team racked up points in back-to-back home wins this week, rolling to a 113-0 win over Bishop's (0-4-2) on Monday before earning a 78-5 (2-4-0) win against Concordia on Wednesday night. The wins move Ottawa to 6-0 this season with one regular season game remaining.
The nationally number one ranked Gee-Gees scored 48 and 52 points while holding their opponents scoreless in the opening halves of the games. 10 different players scored tries against Concordia, led by Ellen Murphy and Michaela Haley with two apiece, while against Bishop's Taylor Newman counted four tries to lead the 13 different try scorers.
Wednesday night's game was played at Matt Anthony Field in Ottawa after being re-scheduled from a Concordia home game on Sept. 22. Due to this, the Gee-Gees have enjoyed five home games this season, travelling only to Sherbrooke for game three, and the upcoming match at McGill.
Ottawa has now clinched the right to host an RSEQ semi-final, with the likely opponent shaping up to be the Sherbrooke Vert et Or. The game will be played at Matt Anthony Field on Friday, October 19 at 5 p.m.
