RECAP: Women’s rugby to play for bronze against Guelph
Seventeen unanswered, second half points for the Gee-Gees women's rugby team weren't enough as they fell by a 24-17 score against the Queen's Gaels Friday evening at Centennial Stadium in Victoria.
The Gee-Gees will now face the Guelph Gryphons in the bronze medal game on Sunday, Nov. 6. Kickoff is at 4:00 p.m. ET (1:00 p.m. local).
The Gaels led 22-0 at the end of the first half, but the Gee-Gees responded quickly in the second half. Ketsia Kamba, Deborah Oyetoran and Sophie McDonald each found paydirt. Unfortunately, the Gee-Gees ran out of time against the defending National Champions.
Ottawa now looks to take home their seventh consecutive medal at the U SPORTS National Championship Sunday. The last time they faced the Gryphons was in the 2019 National Championship bronze medal game – a 33-17 win for the Gee-Gees.
