NEWS: Guillaume Pépin named OUA Rookie of the Year, Second Team All-Star, and All Rookie Team
The forward has collected a trio of OUA honours, being named Rookie of the Year, as well as being named a Second-Team All-Star and to the All-Rookie Team.
In his first campaign with the Ottawa Gee-Gees, Guillaume Pépin's play turned heads, and at the end of the season he has been rewarded for his outstanding play. In just his first year in Garnet and Grey, the forward has collected a trio of OUA honours, being named Rookie of the Year, as well as being named a Second-Team All-Star and to the All-Rookie Team.
Pépin, a native of Montreal, came to the University of Ottawa after starring in CÉGEP at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. There, he stablished himself has a threat on both sides of the ball. He earned himself CCAA All-Canadian honours in his final year, and he didn't stop when he transitioned to University-level. Pépin burst onto the OUA basketball scene this season, leading the nationally-ranked Gee-Gees in points and rebounds per game with 15.4 and 7.5.
His 354 points scored led all rookies in the nation and also helped him break a significant Gee-Gees record. Those 354 points were good enough to beat the 352 points scored by former National Player of the Year, Johnny Berhanemeskel in his rookie season.
With the level of accolades received this season, Pépin continues to show he will be a player to watch in the OUA for years to come.
